As of 15 January 2021, Nikon will no longer accept 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses for this free corrective servicing.
Servicing to address this issue will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.
On 3 February 2015, Nikon released a Service Advisory to inform customers of the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens that Nikon would provide free of charge corrective servicing for lenses exhibiting a particular issue.
This announcement is to inform that the offer for free corrective servicing will expire on 15 January 2021. Request to service this issue after 15 January 2021 will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.
Kindly contact your nearest Nikon service center before 15 January 2021 to have your 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens inspected and corrected.
We have recently confirmed an issue with the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens for advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses. When the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is used for an extended period of time, or zoom operations are frequently repeated, proper communication with the camera may become impossible. An error message may be displayed in the camera monitor, and the lens may fail to function properly.
Please be advised of the details of this issue and its countermeasures below. Nikon will provide free inspection and service to address this issue.
